**🍽️ Where to Start** Begin your culinary journey in Hull's Old Town, where historic streets like Silver Street and Trinity Market (open daily 9am to 5pm) offer a mix of traditional and modern eats. For a classic taste, try the city's famous pattie, a deep-fried potato and sage parcel, available at shops like Bob Carver's on Chapel Street for around £2.50. The Old Town also hosts a weekly street food market on Saturdays, with stalls selling everything from Thai curries to gourmet burgers, typically priced between £5 and £10. **🐟 Seafood Specialties** Hull's maritime heritage shines in its seafood offerings. Head to the Fish Trail for fresh catches at restaurants like The Pipe and Glass in nearby Beverley (average main £18), or stay central at 1884 Dock Street Kitchen, where a seafood platter for two costs about £45. For a quick bite, the Hull Fish Trail's guided tours often end at the Old Custom House, where you can sample local smoked haddock at £8 per portion. **🍛 International Flavors** The city's diverse community brings a world of flavors to Hull. On Beverley Road, you'll find authentic Polish delis like Polska Chata (open 8am to 8pm) selling pierogi at £4 for a dozen, while the Newland Avenue area is dotted with Indian and Turkish restaurants such as Raj Pavilion, where a chicken tikka masala costs around £9. For Asian cuisine, try the New Hong Kong on Anlaby Road, offering dim sum from £3.50 per basket. **🍔 Street Food and Markets** Hull's street food scene is thriving, especially at Trinity Market (King Edward Street, open 9am to 5pm daily). Here, stalls like Shoot The Bull serve gourmet burgers from £7, and The Greek Street Food Company offers gyros for £6. On weekends, the Fruit Market area hosts pop-up vendors with dishes like loaded fries at £5, and the Hull Street Food Nights (first Thursday monthly, 5pm to 9pm) feature rotating stalls with prices from £4 to £8. **🍰 Sweet Treats and Cafes** For dessert, visit the popular Thieving Harry's on Humber Street, where a slice of cake costs £3.50 and coffee is around £2.80 (open 9am to 5pm). The Old Town's White Harte pub offers traditional puddings like sticky toffee pudding for £5.50, while the Hull Pie shop on Trinity Market sells sweet pies from £3. For ice cream, try the Italian-inspired Gelato Lounge on Newland Avenue, with cones starting at £2.50. **💰 Budget-Friendly Eats** Hull is an affordable city for food lovers. A full English breakfast at The Wilson on Silver Street costs just £6.50 (served until 11:30am), and many pubs like The Lion and Key offer two-for-one meals on Mondays, with mains from £8. For under £5, grab a pattie from any local chip shop, or visit the Hull Central Library cafe for a sandwich and drink deal at £4.50. The city's Wetherspoon pubs, such as The Three John Scotts, provide meals from £5.99 including a drink. **🌙 Evening Dining Spots** When the sun sets, Hull's restaurant scene comes alive. The Old House on Silver Street offers a modern British menu with mains from £14, while the Michelin-recommended Pipe and Glass in Beverley (15 minutes by car) serves a tasting menu for £65 per person. For a relaxed evening, try the Hop and Vine on Albion Street, a gastropub with burgers from £10 and local ales. Book ahead for weekends, as popular spots fill up quickly. **🚌 Getting Around for Food** Most of Hull's food destinations are within walking distance in the city center, but buses like the 2 and 3 run frequently along Beverley Road to Newland Avenue (fare £2.20 single). The Hull Paragon Interchange connects to trains and buses, and taxis from the rank cost about £5 for a short trip. For the Fruit Market, use the free city center shuttle bus that loops every 15 minutes from 10am to 6pm.
