Seoul: Organic Skincare & Cosmetics shops?

Question

belinagolz · Answer

For the more traditional organic route, you could try a place like Dongsung Pharmacy in Jongno. They've been around for ages and stock a lot of the harder-to-find local brands like Isoi and Huxley that focus on natural ingredients. The staff there can actually explain what's in each product, which is rare for most shops in Seoul where you're just grabbing things off a shelf. Just know they don't have English labels, so bring someone who reads Korean or use a translation app.

honestly, for organic skincare in seoul you're better off hitting up the big olive young stores in myeongdong or gangnam. they have a dedicated "clean beauty" section now with brands like round lab, torriden, and some by mi. the one near myeongdong station exit 6 is prob your best bet, they have english labels on most stuff too

if you want the real local stuff check out lalavla in hongdae, it used to be boots but they rebranded and carry more korean natural brands now. i'd skip the touristy shops in insadong for this, they're overpriced and mostly sell the same things you can find cheaper at olive young

if you're into the more indie organic scene, check out a brand called cnp laboratory, they have their own shop in gangnam near the kpop road area. their propolis line is really gentle and they use natural extracts. also, the whole foods market in itaewon has a decent selection of korean organic skincare, though prices are a bit higher than what you'd find in a drugstore

mamonde is worth a look too, they have a standalone store in hongdae near the main street that does a whole rose line with actual rose petals in the packaging. their stuff is pretty affordable and they focus on botanical ingredients. also, the nature republic aloe line is a classic for a reason, you can grab it at pretty much any subway station store for under 10,000 won
