business opportunity in Seoul?

i am in seoul for few months and i am planning to expand my small business in india here , like to start some export of machine fabrication parts. which are used in automotive industry and agricultural machinery. does anyone have any idea how to start?

You'll want to look into KOTRA, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. They have an office in Seoul near COEX and they specifically help foreign businesses connect with Korean suppliers and buyers, often for free. They can also hook you up with translation support for contracts and technical specs, which is crucial for automotive parts since the tolerances here are strict.

Also check out the Seoul Global Center in Jongno. They do regular seminars on export regulations and customs procedures, and they have English speaking staff who deal with business setup questions all the time. The agricultural machinery angle might be worth exploring through the Rural Development Administration in Suwon, they work with smaller manufacturers that don't show up on typical B2B platforms.

honestly depends on what kind of volume you're looking at. for automotive parts, you'd want to check out the korean auto parts association (KAPA) or hit up the Gwangmyeong area near Seoul where a lot of the small part suppliers are clustered. the agricultural machinery side might be trickier since Korea's ag sector is pretty niche, but places like Icheon or Yeoju have some smaller manufacturers that might be open to exports

just a heads up, you'll need a proper trade license and customs clearance through KCS (Korea Customs Service) which can be a pain if you're not familiar with the system. might be worth finding a local freight forwarder in the Yongsan or Gangnam area who handles small business exports, they can walk you through the paperwork without you having to learn every detail yourself

tbh the biggest hurdle wont be finding suppliers but getting the payment side sorted. korean banks are strict with foreign accounts and most small shops here want cash or bank transfers in KRW not INR. maybe look into opening a business account at KEB Hana or Woori Bank near your area
