Estadio's Sound?

Question

I'm heading to @Cancun next month and plan on catching a game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. I've heard the atmosphere is electric, is the sound system as good as the energy of the crowd? I'm a bit of a sound snob, so hoping for a great audio experience to match the excitement. Plus, any recommendations for the best seats for the best sound?

fwiw the sound is more about where you sit than the actual speakers. if you get up in the galerias (the nosebleeds) the echo can be brutal, you'll hear everything twice but delayed. stick to the sombra side if you're going during the day, the sun in cancun is no joke and you'll be too distracted sweating to care about audio quality. also the pregame music they blast is usually reggaeton so don't expect any nuanced sound mixing there

honestly the sound system at the estadio is nothing special, it gets the job done but the real noise comes from the crowd. if you're a sound snob you might be let down by the speakers themselves, they're kinda tinny during the anthems. best bet is sitting in the lower level near midfield, the acoustics bounce better there and you catch more of the chants without the speaker distortion. grab some tacos from el pastorcito on avenida tulum before the game, their al pastor is way better than anything inside the stadium

ngl if you're a sound snob you're gonna be disappointed by the actual PA system, it's like a mid-tier club setup at best. but the real magic is catching a game when Tigres or America are in town, the away fans bring their own drums and the whole place becomes this chaotic wall of noise that overpowers everything. for the best audio experience sit in the platea baja on the lateral side, row 5-10, you get the crispest mix of crowd and speakers without the echo from the roof. grab a michelada from the guy with the cart outside puerta 4 before kickoff, way better than the canned stuff inside

The sound system itself is pretty standard for a Mexican league stadium, nothing that'll blow your ears off in a good way. But the acoustics actually work in your favor if you sit in the upper sections behind the goal, the curva sur, where the hardcore fans gather with their drums and megaphones. You'll get the full raw experience of the chanting and drumming without much speaker interference, just pure crowd noise that'll rattle your chest. Grab a cerveza from the vendors walking the aisles before the match, it's cheaper than the stands and you won't miss a beat.
