**🗓️ Planning Your Trip** A three-day itinerary in Pontianak works best if you group activities by neighborhood to minimize transit time. The city is split by the Kapuas River, so plan around the river crossings. Start your days early to avoid the midday heat and afternoon rains. Public transport is limited, so use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab for convenience. **🏙️ Day 1: Central Pontianak** Begin at the Equator Monument (Tugu Khatulistiwa) on Jalan Khatulistiwa, open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM with a small entry fee of around IDR 5,000. Then head to the Pontianak Museum (Museum Negeri Pontianak) on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, which opens at 8 AM and charges IDR 3,000 for entry. In the afternoon, explore the Kapuas River waterfront and the traditional floating market (Pasar Terapung) if you're there early morning. For dinner, try the local dish 'Chai Kue' at Jalan Gajah Mada. **🕌 Day 2: North Pontianak** Start at the Kadariah Palace (Keraton Kadariah) in Kampung Dalam, open from 8 AM to 4 PM with a donation-based entry. Next, visit the Jami Mosque of Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman, a historic mosque on Jalan Rahadi Usman. Have lunch at the nearby Pasar Flamboyan, where you can find local favorites like 'Bubur Pedas' for around IDR 15,000. In the evening, take a river cruise along the Kapuas River to see the sunset; boats depart from Dermaga Kapuas Indah at 5 PM for about IDR 50,000 per person. **🛍️ Day 3: South Pontianak** Spend the morning at Ayani Mega Mall on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, which opens at 10 AM and houses a variety of shops and a food court. Then visit the Alun Kapuas Square (Alun-Alun Kapuas) for a leisurely walk and street food; it's busiest in the late afternoon. For a unique experience, check out the Rumah Radakng, a traditional Dayak longhouse on Jalan Sutan Syahrir, open daily until 6 PM. End your day with a seafood dinner at Pantai Puri Gading, about 30 minutes south by car, where fresh grilled fish costs around IDR 50,000 per portion. **🚌 Getting Around** Pontianak has no reliable public bus system, so ride-hailing apps are your best bet. A 10-minute ride within the city center costs about IDR 15,000 to IDR 20,000. For longer trips, such as to the Equator Monument (about 3 km north of downtown), expect to pay around IDR 25,000. Alternatively, you can use 'angkot' (minivans) for fixed routes, but they can be crowded and slow. **🍜 Where to Eat** Pontianak is famous for its diverse cuisine, including Chinese, Malay, and Dayak influences. For breakfast, try 'Kue Tiaw' at Jalan Gajah Mada, a noodle dish for about IDR 20,000. Lunch options include 'Nasi Kuning' at Warung Nasi Kuning Pak Yusuf on Jalan Merdeka, costing around IDR 25,000. Dinner at the floating restaurants along the Kapuas River offers fresh seafood; a meal for two with drinks runs about IDR 150,000. **🏨 Accommodation Tips** Most hotels are concentrated in the city center, near Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani and Jalan Gajah Mada. Budget guesthouses start at IDR 150,000 per night, while mid-range hotels like Hotel Santika Pontianak cost around IDR 500,000. For a unique stay, consider the riverside hotels that offer views of the Kapuas River. Book in advance during peak seasons, such as Eid and Christmas. **💡 Practical Tips** Pontianak is hot and humid year-round, so pack light clothing and sunscreen. The rainy season runs from November to March, so bring an umbrella. Cash is king for small vendors, but larger establishments accept cards. Learn a few Indonesian phrases like 'terima kasih' (thank you) to connect with locals. Always carry small change for angkot and market purchases.
