**🗓️ Overview and Planning** This three-day itinerary groups activities by neighborhood to minimize transit time. Tinnevelly (Tirunelveli) is a city in Tamil Nadu, India, known for its temples, halwa, and proximity to the Western Ghats. Plan to start each day by 8:00 AM to cover the highlights comfortably. The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. **🛕 Day 1 Morning: Temple Run** Begin at the Nellaiappar Temple, one of the largest Shiva temples in South India, open from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Explore the musical pillars and the thousand-pillared hall. Entry is free, but guide services cost around 200 INR. From the temple, walk 10 minutes to the adjacent Kanthimathi Amman Temple, which is part of the same complex. **🍛 Day 1 Afternoon: Local Lunch** For lunch, head to Hotel Aryaas on South Bazaar Street, a 5-minute walk from the temple. A typical South Indian thali costs about 150 INR and is served from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Try the Tirunelveli halwa at Shanti Sweets, a famous shop nearby, where a 250-gram box costs around 100 INR. After lunch, rest at your hotel or visit the Tirunelveli Junction Market for local shopping. **🌊 Day 1 Evening: Riverside Walk** In the evening, take an auto-rickshaw to the Thamirabarani River bank near the Palayamkottai bridge, about 15 minutes from the city center. The riverfront is lively with street food stalls selling sundal and bajji from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Enjoy a leisurely walk and watch the sunset. Dinner can be at Hotel Ganesh on Trivandrum Road, which serves dosas and idlis until 10:00 PM. **🚌 Day 2 Morning: Palayamkottai** Start day two in Palayamkottai, the twin city across the river. Take a bus from Tirunelveli Junction to Palayamkottai bus stand, a 20-minute ride costing 10 INR. Visit St. John's Church, a historic landmark built in 1826, open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Then explore the Palayamkottai Market, which is bustling with fresh produce and spices from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. **🏞️ Day 2 Afternoon: Courtallam Falls** After an early lunch at Hotel Saravana Bhavan in Palayamkottai (meals around 200 INR), hire a taxi to Courtallam Falls, about 60 kilometers away. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours. The falls are open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and entry is free. Be cautious during monsoon season when the water is strong. Return to Tinnevelly by evening, which takes another 1.5 hours. **🍽️ Day 2 Evening: Dinner and Rest** Back in Tinnevelly, have dinner at Hotel Annapoorna on Madurai Road, known for its Chettinad dishes. A meal for two costs about 500 INR. The restaurant is open until 10:30 PM. If you're not too tired, catch a late-night show at the Central Theatre on South Bazaar Street, where tickets cost around 120 INR. **🚂 Day 3 Morning: Day Trip** On day three, take a morning train from Tirunelveli Junction to Kanyakumari, a 2-hour journey with tickets starting at 30 INR. Visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue, open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Ferry tickets cost 50 INR. Return to Tinnevelly by afternoon train, arriving around 2:00 PM. **🛍️ Day 3 Afternoon: Shopping** Spend the afternoon shopping for Tirunelveli halwa and other local specialties. The best shops are on South Bazaar Street and near the junction. A kilogram of halwa costs between 300 and 400 INR. Also pick up palm sugar and handmade palm leaf products. Most shops are open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. **🌙 Day 3 Evening: Farewell Dinner** For your final dinner, try Hotel Sree Annapoorna on Trivandrum Road, which offers a mix of South Indian and North Indian dishes.
