**🏛️ Start at the Museum** Begin your visit at the Meishan Museum (东坡区三苏路1号), which is free to enter and open from 9:00 to 17:00, Tuesday through Sunday. The museum offers a deep dive into local history, including the region's connection to the famous poet Su Dongpo. Allow at least two hours to explore the exhibits and the pleasant surrounding gardens. **🏞️ Walk the Dongpo Lake** Dongpo Lake (东坡湖) is the city's green heart, with a 5-kilometer promenade perfect for a morning stroll or an evening jog. Rent a paddleboat for about 30 yuan per hour from the dock near the south gate, and watch locals practicing tai chi at sunrise. The lake is especially beautiful in April when the cherry blossoms along the shore are in full bloom. **🍜 Taste the Local Noodles** Meishan is famous for its dan dan noodles, and the best bowl is at Chen's Noodle House (陈记担担面) on Jiefang Road, open from 7:00 to 14:00. A bowl costs just 8 yuan, and you can watch the chef hand-pull the noodles through a window. Pair it with a side of pickled vegetables and a glass of soy milk for a classic breakfast. **🏯 Visit the Ancient City Wall** The remnants of the Ming Dynasty city wall run along the eastern edge of the old town, near the intersection of Dongpo Avenue and Huangzhou Road. Climb the restored watchtower for a view over the rooftops, and read the informational plaques that explain the wall's history. It's a quiet spot, especially in the late afternoon, and entry is free. **🎭 Catch a Sichuan Opera** For an evening of culture, head to the Meishan Grand Theater (眉山大剧院) on Wenhua Road, where performances of Sichuan opera are held every Friday and Saturday at 19:30. Tickets range from 80 to 200 yuan, and you'll see face-changing and fire-spitting acts that are unique to the region. Book ahead online or at the box office, as shows often sell out. **🌿 Explore the Bamboo Forest** Just 20 kilometers south of the city, the Qingyi River Bamboo Forest (青衣江竹海) offers a serene escape with walking trails that wind through towering bamboo groves. The park is open daily from 8:00 to 18:00, and admission is 40 yuan. Bring insect repellent in summer, and stop at the teahouse near the entrance for a cup of local green tea. **🛍️ Shop at the Night Market** The Dongpo Night Market (东坡夜市) on Bayi Road comes alive after 18:00, with stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to grilled skewers. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price for souvenirs like bamboo carvings or embroidered fans. The market is busiest on weekends, so go on a weekday if you prefer a more relaxed browsing experience. **🚌 Getting Around** Meishan's public bus system covers most attractions, with fares starting at 1 yuan, and buses run from 6:30 to 21:30. For faster travel, use ride-hailing apps like Didi, which cost about 10 yuan for a short trip within the city center. The city is also bike-friendly, and shared bikes are available near the lake and main squares for just 1.5 yuan per half hour.
