Headed to Liaocheng next month - transit tips?

Question

I'm planning a trip to Liaocheng next month and trying to figure out the best way to get around. Should I rely on buses, taxis, or bike rentals for the main sights?

myrta · Answer

The city is pretty compact so a mix works best. Taxis are your friend for getting from the train station to your hotel, it's a flat 15 yuan to anywhere in the old city. Once you're near Dongchang Lake, walking is actually the most pleasant option since a lot of the little alleyways around Guangyue Tower are pedestrian-only anyway.

honestly the bus system is decent for getting between the main spots like Dongchang Lake and Guangyue Tower, but they can be slow during rush hour. taxis are cheap enough that I'd just use them if you're in a hurry - maybe 10-15 yuan for most trips around the city center. bike rentals are great for the lake area though, there's a path that goes all the way around and it's a nice ride. just avoid the pedicabs near the train station, they'll try to charge u triple

yeah bikes are the move for sure but just be ready for the drivers, they don't really watch for cyclists lol
