Skip the branch hunt near Tân Trụ and try Techcombank or VPBank in District 1, they see foreigners daily and move faster.

Second this, BIDV on Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai works too.

good call on the District 1 thing. one thing i'd add is to bring a few passport photos and cash for the initial deposit, banks there always seem to want both on day one.

honestly opening a local account is doable but the paperwork can drag, so keep wise as a backup for the first month. fwiw i'd get your visa sorted before walking into any branch, they always ask for teh proper one.

yeah the visa thing is real, though some branches near Tan Dinh wanted a 6-month lease too, so bring your rental contract.

Quan com Nga on Hoang Sa is more of a quick lunch spot than a sit down meal honestly. Com tam plates around there run 40k to 60k dong depending on toppings. For a proper sit down, the spots on Vo Van Tan are worth the walk.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah agreed on the quick lunch call, tho the vo van tan spots get packed around noon so go before 11 or after 1

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

if u want the sit down vibe maybe try the com tam places around Tran Quang Dieu in district 3, more of a proper meal & they do the broken rice with everything on it. price wise id say budget 50 to 70k for a full plate. nga is fine but its very much a quick in and out kind of spot
