great list, covers the basics well. if you're here on a sunday, The Star Inn does a roast that beats the duke's head imo, the yorkshire puddings are massive and they give you proper gravy boats not just a drizzle. it's £19 but worth the extra quid.

also for a late night snack after the pubs close, the kebab house on station road is open til 2am on weekends, their mixed grill is £12 and they do a decent homemade chilli sauce that's not just bottled stuff. the owner's a bit grumpy but the food's consistent

ngl the pizza express mention is fair for families but if you want proper italian there's a spot on the high street called La Lanterna that does a really good spaghetti vongole for like £11. it's a tiny place with like 4 tables and the owner's this old italian guy who'll talk your ear off about wine pairings. cash only though, learned that the hard way

also the spice garden buffet is solid but if you're after indian street food, there's a little van called Chaiwala that parks outside the co-op on fridays and saturdays. their paneer rolls are £5 and way better than anything you'll get in a restaurant. just bring cash and expect a queue

really good list, covers the main spots well. one thing i'd flag is that the duke's head does a fish and chip friday that's not on their regular menu, it's £15 and they use fresh haddock from a supplier in brixham. it's the best fish and chips in the village by a mile, beats anything from the takeaways

also if you're after a proper pub atmosphere, the red lion on guildford road has a beer garden out back that catches the afternoon sun. it's a proper suntrap from about 2pm onwards, and they do a really good ploughman's for £9 with a massive wedge of stilton and homemade chutney

fwiw i'd skip the railway hotel unless you really need to be right at the station. the rooms are fine but the trains start running at 5am and you hear every single one. instead try the windlesham hotel if you've got a car, it's a five minute drive and way quieter. the pub there does a decent fish and chips too, and bagshot park is right across the road for a morning walk

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

honestly the bagshot park hotel is solid but if you're after something with more character try the duke's head pub rooms. stayed there last summer and the live music friday night was great, though yeah it gets loud til maybe 11. the breakfast is proper full english too, not the sad continental stuff. just book a room at the back if you want quiet

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the lightwater inn is a solid pick if you want quiet. stayed there last autumn and it was dead silent at night, perfect for actually sleeping. the pub does decent food too, their sunday roast is pretty good. only thing is it's a bit of a walk to the station if you don't have a car
