The camel market tip is spot on, go early because by 9 or 10 AM most of the serious trading is done and it gets quiet. One thing the guide doesn't mention is that the Al Ain Oasis has a small farm shop near the main entrance selling fresh dates and local honey, way better than the touristy souk stuff and cheaper too. For Jebel Hafeet, if you have time, stop at the Mercure hotel halfway up for a coffee on their terrace, the view over the city at dusk is worth the 15 AED for a cappuccino.
Solid itinerary, I've done almost exactly this loop and it works well. One thing I'd add is to hit the Al Ain Oasis early, before 9 AM, because the shade paths get busy with school groups and the quiet really makes the falaj water sounds stand out. Also, skip the zoo if you're tight on time and instead drive up to the Mercure hotel at Jebel Hafeet for sunset, the terrace there beats the summit for comfort and you still get the full city lights coming on below. For lunch on day three, I'd steer you toward a small place called Al Khabiyali near the souk, their lamb mandi is about 25 AED and it's what the locals actually eat, not the mall crowd.
yeah this is pretty much how i'd do it, the oasis and palace are a perfect morning combo. one thing i'd add is the al ain museum is way smaller than it looks, you'll breeze through it in 30 mins, so don't rush the fort next door. also if you're driving up jebel hafeet, go a bit after sunset instead of exactly at it, the city lights below are way more impressive than the actual sunset imo. for day 3, the souk is mostly tourist stuff but the spice section at the back has real saffron and dried
Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?
damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door
yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl
The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
