Morning folks. Help needed. I need a dr who can expand my upper jaw using an SME (skeletal maxilla expander) it's causing me sleep apnea. Any idea where to go? I called everywhere the hospital customer service reps aren't very helpful.
the dental hospital at mahidol university on yothi street has an orthognathic surgery unit that does skeletal expanders. they're a teaching hospital so it's cheaper but the appointment process takes forever. dr. sittichai in the ortho department is the one who handles the complicated expansions, his english is good enough for explaining the procedure. just call the main line and ask for the dental faculty, not the general hospital switchboard
bumrungrad's craniofacial center might be worth a shot if you're willing to pay private prices. dr. praphan in their oral surgery unit has done a few skeletal expanders but he mostly does TMJ stuff. ask for a consult with him specifically, the general line people won't know what you're talking about. i'd budget around 50-60k baht for the consult and scans alone if you go that route
if you're in thon buri area, try dr. chairat at thonburi hospital. he does a lot of the more complex orthognathic stuff and might be able to point you in the right direction even if he doesn't do the expander himself. customer service won't know what an sme is, you gotta ask for the oral surgery or ortho department directly

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
