Any recommendations for places to go on New Years Eve?

We are both in our 20s. Keen to find somewhere to go that's not overly expensive where we can still see lots of the fireworks at midnight. Lots of suggestions on Google only talk about restaurants which are charging 10,000 baht or more. I'm ideally just looking for something more lowkey and relaxed. I am not a big party person.

yeah the existing replies are spot on for asiatique. another option if you want something even more lowkey is the walkway along maharaj road near tha tien pier. it's a bit quieter than asiatique, you can see the iconsiam fireworks across the river, and there's a small park area where people just sit on the grass. grab some som tam and grilled pork from a street vendor near the pier, way cheaper than any restaurant. just bring a blanket to sit on and you're set

you could try the rooftop bar at baan rim naam, it's near the river but not as famous as the big spots. they do a set menu for around 1,500 baht per person which is way less than those 10k places. the view of the iconsiam fireworks is decent and it's pretty relaxed, mostly couples and small groups. just book ahead, it fills up fast for nye

if you want to see the main fireworks without paying restaurant prices, head to asiatique. the riverfront there is free and you get a great view of the show from iconsiam across the river. it gets packed but it's chill, you can grab street food and a beer from 7-11 and just hang out on the pier. just get there by 9pm to claim a spot near the railing

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
