Where to buy the best Galette de Rois?

Merry X'mas 🎄 Merry X'mas 🎄

if you want the real deal, head to lenôtre at icon siam or central embassy. they import theirs from france and it's pretty spot on, though expect to pay around 1500-1800 baht. for a more local take, try la maison de la crepe on sukhumvit 33, they do a smaller version with pandan filling sometimes which is wild but actually works. the whole thing isn't super common here outside of a few bakeries so you might need to call ahead

ngl it's hard to find proper galette des rois here since most places do a sad croissant version. but lenôtre at siam paragon usually has them in january, they import from france so it's legit. another option is le boulanger at sukhumvit 49, they do a decent almond one but u have to preorder like a week before epiphany

since everyone's already covered the big french bakeries, i'll mention that some of the nicer hotels do a version too. the mandarin oriental's bakery shop usually has one in january, it's around 2000 baht but the frangipane is really good and they use actual feuilletage. also check the deli at central world's ground floor near the supermarket, they sometimes carry small ones from a french supplier but they sell out fast

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
