What's the Neon countdown festival like, and anyone want to come with?

I see a few mentions here on the sub and on r/thailandtourism but am thoroughly confused by the website.

1) it looks like a rave, but it ends at...1am?

2) mostly worried if I'll enjoy it, I'm not a hard-core raver, just wanting to dance and watch some fireworks on the 31st

3) is not possible to buy the 1 day ticket anymore? The website seems to imply that there's another tier to be unlocked. If so, is the 3 day worth it?

4) anyone want to go with? Will offer a free tour of Bangkok from a born and bred bangkok native when we're sober, haha

neon's got a weird vibe tbh, it's like a big music production squeezed into a soi off rca. the 1am end is real, city ordinance thing, but honestly by midnight most people are just watching the sky instead of dancing anyway. if you want the full countdown energy hit centralworld after, the crowd spills out into the street and it goes way later

for tickets, check their line official account, that's where they push last-minute drops. the 3-day is def overkill unless you're trying to see all the international acts, day 1 and 3 have totally different lineups. day 2 is the main event

your tour offer is generous, i'd say jump on the neon facebook event page, people post looking for groups there all the time. just pick a meetup spot that's easy, like the 7-11 by asok bts, not inside the venue chaos

honestly the 1am curfew is a bummer but it's not like they kick you out the second the clock hits 1, they start winding down around midnight so you get the full countdown experience. the crowd skews young and touristy but it's a fun vibe if you just want to dance without getting pushed around by hardcore ravers

for the ticket thing, check the official line account @neonbkk, sometimes they drop last-minute 1-day passes like a day before. the 3-day is only worth it if you're planning to go all three nights and want to avoid buying separate tickets, but for just the 31st it's overkill

the fireworks at centralwOrld are way bigger and more traditional, but neon's got better production with the lights and lasers. if you want a proper view of the sky, get there early and stand near the back where you can see the whole stage plus the skyline

for meeting up, pick somewhere outside the venue like the big mcdonald's at ratchada soi 3, it's easy to spot and not insane crowded. just set a time like 10pm so you have time to grab a chang before the countdown

honestly the 1-day thing is probably just "sold out" in the typical thai marketing way where they release more later. check ticketmelon a few days before, that's where the real stock lives. the 3-day is pointless unless you're really into the lineup across all nights

neon's fine for a casual night out, the crowd is more instagram than rave tbh. lots of groups taking photos and drinking, not really a mosh pit situation. you'll get your dance on and see fireworks, just don't expect warehouse vibes

if you want something less structured, rca itself will be a mess on the 31st with people just hanging outside. the street food stalls along soi soonvijai are better than whatever they have inside neon anyway. i'd say go for it but meet your tour guide at the rca entrance before 10pm or you'll be texting each other for an hour

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
