Is USD 2,200/ month being a good number to live in Bangkok? What is the average cost of food (halal diet), local travel (metro card etc.) and other housing expenses? Is USD 2,200/ month being sufficient to live a decent life for a single person?

yeah 2200 usd is more than fine especially with rent and insurance covered. halal-wise sukhumvit soi 3 has a bunch of options but i'd also check out the bangkok islamic center on sukhumvit soi 1 for cheap eats around 50-80 baht. for transport the bts and mrt are your best bet, a single trip is like 16-60 baht depending on distance so loading a rabbit card is easier than monthly passes. you'll probably spend 15-20k baht a month on food and travel combined and still have a ton left for fun stuff

yeah 2200 usd is way more than enough, especially with everything else covered. your main spend will just be food and transport, and even eating halal at places like the ones along charoen krung or near the bangkok islamic centre you're looking at maybe 30-40k baht a month total if you're living it up a bit

the rabbit card for bts is the easiest, just load it up at any station machine, and an average commute across central sukhumvit or siam area runs like 40-80 baht per trip. if you're going to the mrt too, get a separate card for that, they don't share

one thing nobody mentioned is that utility bills might not be included in your company accommodation, so check that. if you have to pay electric and water yourself, a studio in a condo could run 1500-3000 baht a month depending on ac usage. but honestly even with that, you'll still have a huge chunk left for savings or trips to pattaya on weekends

honestly 2,200 usd after housing and insurance is pretty generous for 3 months here. even with halal food you'll be fine, just hit up the areas around sukhumvit soi 3 or nana for more halal options, or go to the old town near bang rak for some good muslim restaurants. street food is cheaper but if you want sit-down halal places expect 200-400 baht a meal.

for transport the bts and mrt are fine, a monthly pass is around 1,500 baht if you ride a lot, but grab bike is like 30-50 baht for short hops. honestly you could live on 40k baht a month and still have plenty left for going out or a weekend trip to ayutthaya. just dont blow it all on fancy rooftop bars and you'll be saving money by the end.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
