Where to buy a Thai-themed nativity set?

Hopefully not an ultra expensive one! A person I know back in my country collects nativity scenes from all over the world, and I want to bring them one from Thailand. check out the night bazaar in silom, there's a couple of stalls that do custom wood carvings and might make you a thai-style nativity with elephants and monks instead of the usual figures. not sure on price but i've seen similar stuff for like 300-400 baht

ngl the best place i found for this kinda thing is actually the cathedral of the assumption near charoen krung road. they have a small gift shop inside that sells thai-christian fusion stuff direct from local artisans. saw a nativity set there where mary and joseph were in thai silk and the baby jesus was lying in a traditional reed basket. think it was like 700 baht. also the nun running the shop was super sweet and knew the history of each piece

If you're near the old city, walk around the shops along Thanon Tanao just south of Wat Suthat. A few of the antique and religious goods stores there carry small carved wooden sets that mix Buddhist and Christian iconography. I've seen ones with a khan mak offering tray instead of a manger, usually around 400-600 baht. The vendors speak enough English to explain the pieces.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
