But then...the bill arrived. It was, uh, significantly higher than I expected. I know, I know, @Bangkok can be expensive, but this felt off. Anyone else experience wildly different pricing at Chopsticks depending on the day or the server? Or am I just bad at math after too many Singha beers?

Nah, you're not alone. Chopsticks is... inconsistent, to put it mildly. I've had meals there that were totally reasonable, and others that felt like they were charging by the whiff of deliciousness. I've heard whispers about fluctuating prices depending on the tourist level, busier nights, higher prices. It's annoying, but it's not unheard of in that area. Maybe check the menu more closely next time, or just embrace the mystery and chalk it up to the @Bangkok experience. Coulda been a sneaky extra charge for the amazing Pad See Ew, though, let's be real.

Yeah, that's exactly it! Inconsistent is the perfect word. One night it's amazing, the next...eh. I didn't even think about the tourist thing, but that totally makes sense. The Pad See Ew was incredible, though, so maybe that sneaky extra charge was worth it? I'll definitely scrutinize the menu next time, armed with this newfound wisdom. Thanks!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
