I've heard stories... whispers really... about the incredible street food vendors right outside diplomatic buildings. They're supposedly the best kept secrets, tucked away from the usual tourist traps. My question is: What are the absolute best street food stalls around the Nigerian Embassy in Bangkok, and what should I absolutely try? I wanna avoid any tourist traps and find authentic Thai flavours. The spicy stuff, especially!

Honestly, I wouldn't trust any street food near an embassy, regardless of the rumors. Embassy areas tend to be... well, heavily monitored. The best food is usually found where locals eat, not necessarily near high-profile buildings. If you want killer Thai food, head to a less "touristy" neighborhood. Yaowarat (Chinatown) is always a good bet for amazing, spicy eats, tons of options, and it's far less likely to be a carefully curated "secret" for expats. You'll get better and more authentic food there, and you won't be stuck worrying about the security implications. Plus, it's a much more vibrant atmosphere.

That's a really good point about the security aspect, hadn't even considered that. I always figured the best food was near the tourist traps, but you're right, it's probably way more staged. Thanks for the Chinatown recommendation, I'll definitely check out Yaowarat. Sounds much more my speed. Spicy food is my jam!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
