I'm interested in performing but prefer smaller, more intimate venues rather than large concert spaces.

kafka's cool but the real r&b pocket is bobwundaye on wednesdays, tiny basement near liuzhangli, mostly expat musicians jamming and they actually know their changes. sign up is loose, just show up before 9 and talk to the guy with the beard at the door. also 女巫店 gets packed so go on a weekday not a weekend

try 女巫店 on weekends too but honestly for r&b the vibe at legacy mini near huashan is hit or miss. if u want intimate, check the wall on roosevelt, they do a songwriter night tuesdays, mostly acoustic but the sound guy is solid & the crowd actually listens. cover is usually 200-300nt, sign up starts around 8

if you're here in july or august there's a rooftop thing at 河岸留言 in ximending that turns into a soul jam on wednesdays, way more low key than their main stage. kapok on fujin has a tiny back room where ppl do stripped down sets, mostly indie folk but they're open to r&b if u bring your own keys. honestly the smaller spots here care more about whether u can hold a room than genre, so just show up early and talk to whoever's running sound

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
