The numbering system here is... unique. It's less like a numbered street and more like a maze. I'm staying with a friend who lives here and even they got a little turned around! The neighborhood itself is charming, though. Tons of little family-run shops, food stalls with the best smelling dumplings...I think I've found my new favorite night market. My biggest problem right now? Finding my way back to their apartment after exploring. It's like every alley looks exactly the same! Seriously, how do locals navigate this? Any tips for a newbie trying to avoid getting permanently lost?

honestly the trick is you dont navigate by street names at all, you navigate by landmarks. that tea shop on the corner, the temple with the red lanterns, the 7-11 with the weird cat that sits outside. in Taipei the lanes (弄) and alleys (巷) branch off numbered streets in a way that makes no sense on a map but makes total sense on foot once u clock the anchors. also fwiw, if you get turned around, just walk to the nearest main road (like Xinyi or Heping) and reorient from there, theyre never more than a couple blocks away.

the lane numbering here actually follows the parent street's section number, so Ln 162 belongs to sec 1 or 2 of whatever road it splits off, that's why it never matches google. locals dont memorize the maze either, they just know which exit of which MRT station they came from and reverse it. take a photo of the corner sign at your friend's lane every time you leave, sounds dumb but its saved me more than once. also 7-11 receipts have the store address on them, handy backup if you're really turned around.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
