I'm a vegetarian, obviously, but the "beef" part has me intrigued. Is it some kind of super-realistic mock meat? Or is it more of a "beefy" flavor profile achieved through clever spicing and mushrooms? I'm trying to decide if I should go for the soup or the dry noodles, and if the broth is actually tomato-based or just has a reddish hue. A local friend said it was the best darn thing they ever tasted, even though they eat meat regularly. Hoping for a delicious surprise, but nervous about potential disappointment!

You're overthinking the name. "Beef noodle" is such a dominant dish in Taipei that even vegetarian places lean into the terminology. They're usually using a wheat gluten or soy protein base that's been braised for hours in a spiced tomato broth. The texture is chewy and layered, not trying to be a perfect cow replica but definitely satisfying in its own way.

I'd go for the soup version. The dry noodles at places like this can sometimes be an afterthought, but the soup is where the tomato and star anise really come through. It's not just reddish; it's legitimately tomato-heavy, often with chunks of actual tomato in there. You'll see it on Wuchang Street if you're near the main Taipei station area.

Your meat-eating friend isn't lying. A lot of carnivores in Taipei actually prefer these vegetarian versions because the broth is cleaner and less greasy than the real deal. Go with an open mind and you'll probably be surprised.

It's probably a really good mushroom-based mock meat. Taipei's vegetarian scene is amazing, so they've probably perfected the art of making convincing "beef." I'd go for the soup, you get more of the tomato broth flavor that way, and you'll get a better sense of the overall taste. The dry noodles are probably great too, but the soup might be more of a full experience. Your friend's not exaggerating; even meat-eaters are often blown away by how good the vegetarian options in Taipei are. Don't worry, it'll be delicious.

Honestly, that place is legit. I've dragged my omni friends there and they didn't even miss the meat. The "beef" is super chewy and soaks up all that tomato broth. I'd def go soup, the broth is like a rich, tangy tomato stew, not just colored water.

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
