The humidity was insane, felt like I was swimming through the air. Saw some crazy formations, seriously looked like ancient, petrified trees. But the weirdest thing? There was this one spot, deep inside, where my phone completely lost signal. No bars, nada. It was eerie, like a little pocket of nothingness in the middle of everything. Anyone else experience that total signal blackout in there? It freaked me out a little, honestly. Was it some kind of weird electromagnetic anomaly or just bad luck?

honestly that signal drop is just the cave itself, it's basically a giant chunk of andesite and tuff right there by the river. those rocks are dense and full of iron, they'll eat radio waves for breakfast. i've had my gps go haywire there too, not just phone signal. if you want to test it, walk up to the guandu temple area right after, your signal comes back instantly. the cave's cool but that spot is just a natural faraday cage, nothing paranormal

ngl the first time i went i dropped my phone into a puddle in there because i was using it as a flashlight and it just went dark. the signal thing is real though, i just assumed it was cause the cave is basically a giant wet sponge of rock. if you want a less freaky spot with similar vibes, hike up to the old tunnel near qilongyan, it's got that same damp darkness but your phone works fine. plus you can see the river from the exit which is nice.

i've had that happen in a few caves around taipei. pretty sure it's just the rock thickness and humidity screwing with the signals, not ghosts or anything. if you want a less intense cave experience, try the one near xiaoyoukeng, way less humid

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
