lost iphone, escalate and report to police?

arrow_drop_up 2496 arrow_drop_down

try calling 1330 first, thats the korea travel hotline and they can translate for u if u need to call the police or the lost & found center. theyre open 24/7 and way less frustrating than trying to explain everything in broken korean. if u have find my iphone and it shows a location in a building or an apartment complex, dont just show up there alone, let the police handle it

ok so if you haven't already, check your kakao talk or bank apps for any weird login attempts. if someone picked it up and tried to mess with your accounts, you'll see it there first. also go to the nearest police box (파출소) not just the main station, they handle lost phones all the time and it's way faster than waiting at the big station. the smaller boxes log stuff into the same system anyway

ngl the other replies covered the basics but one thing nobody mentioned - if u were in a busy area like hongdae or myeongdong, check with nearby convenience store clerks too. people here often drop lost phones at gs25 or cu instead of a police box, especially if theyre in a rush. i've seen a couple posts on seoul facebook groups where phones turned up at a 편의점 days later. also try calling your own number from a friend's phone, sometimes korean strangers will answer and try to help in broken english or just hand it to a store. the police report is good for your peace of mind but the real hustle is retracing your steps and asking around within 24 hours

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
