the pickle barrel in itaewon does a proper pastrami on rye but it's pricey at like 18,000 won & the queue on weekends is rough
anyone found a cheaper deli sandwich within walking distance that's actually good? i'm talking real cured meat not the sad ham on white bread situation

Try the little butcher counter on Sowol-ro 2-gil, they sell house-cured coppa sandwiches for around 9,000 and nobody queues.

Image selma local ·

the butcher closes for lunch around 1 so go before noon honestly.

Ask for it sliced thin, game changer

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

casa deli in haebangchon, under 12k

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Their smoked duck breast on sourdough is the sleeper pick at 13,500, though it sells out by 2pm on Saturdays.

yeah the duck one goes fast, i've had better luck on weekday mornings before 11. heads up they close mon and tue, learned that the hard way standing outside like an idiot.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image sybil local ·

that duck is legit but i'd put the porchetta on focaccia right next to it, they do it thurs to sun only. grab it before noon or it's gone too

Aquarium jobs in Seoul 2026: what do they pay?

Does… I've been looking at aquarium work in Seoul for 2026, mostly the big COEX Aquarium in Gangnam, and the pay seems to sit around 2.4 to 2.8 million won a month for keeper and guest services roles. Does that actually cover rent and living costs in Seoul these days, or do people in this line of work end up commuting from outside the city?
arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Samseong-dong one-rooms run 700 to 900 a month.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

That range is right for the older villas, but anything rebuilt near the COEX mall is closer to 1.1 million now. Most aquarium staff I know end up in Daechi or Suseo and take the Line 2 or Suin-Bundang in.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Daechi makes sense given the rent gap, but the Suin-Bundang from Suseo adds roughly 40 minutes each way to Samseong.

Image poldi local ·

yeah but half of those are officetels with maintenance fees on top so factor in another 100 or so

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image judithputz local ·

Maintenance fees hit officetels harder than villas, 150 easy.

Worth checking whether the posting includes the housing stipend. Big attractions often add 200 to 300 on top for staff on rotating shifts, and the gap between contract types matters more than the base figure.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Contract type matters way more than base pay, honestly

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image romi local ·

the 200 to 300 usually shows up as a separate line on the contract, not the base

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

gets eaten by tax and insurance anyway

Guryong Village, under 500, but check the redevelopment notices.
