Best Western Premier Kukdo Hotel's Secret?

No bust… I stayed at the Best Western Premier Kukdo Hotel in Seoul last month. The location was amazing, close to everything. But the hotel itself felt... strangely quiet. Like, eerily quiet sometimes. No bustling hallway chatter, no loud elevator music, just a hushed atmosphere. It was peaceful, sure, but it also felt a little unsettling. Did anyone else experience this unusual quiet during their stay, or was it just me being overly sensitive?

Yeah, I've stayed at a few hotels in @Seoul, and some are definitely quieter than others. It's not uncommon, especially in some of the older, more established places. Maybe it's just the type of clientele they attract, business travelers, perhaps, who aren't inclined to be loud and boisterous. Or maybe it's just the building's acoustics; some places just naturally absorb sound better than others. Nothing to get too freaked out about, I wouldn't worry unless you started seeing floating chopsticks...then maybe pack your bags.

Haha, floating chopsticks! Good point. I guess I was just expecting a bit more oomph from a "Premier" hotel, you know? Like, maybe a secret speakeasy or a hidden rooftop garden or something. But quiet is good too I suppose, especially if I'm trying to actually sleep. Thanks for the perspective!

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
