The place is INSANE. Giant fluffy dog statues everywhere, dog-shaped waffles...it's a whole other level of kitsch. I got the kimchi jjigae, which was surprisingly good, but what I really want to know is...what's the deal with the little dog-shaped fortune cookies? Mine said something about finding true love in a karaoke bar. I'm not sure what to make of that. Seriously though, anyone know if that's a standard thing there or just a weird fluke?

Hah, the dog fortune cookies! I've been to Dogdogdog a few times and yeah, they're totally a thing. I think they just randomly assign a fortune to each cookie, mine once told me to "avoid wearing striped socks on Tuesdays," which, you know, helpful. Don't read too much into the karaoke bar prophecy. Maybe just sing your heart out and see what happens? Enjoy the ridiculousness; that's half the fun of the place!

Seriously, striped socks on Tuesdays?! That's amazing. I figured there was some kind of system, but random fortune cookies is even better. I might just have to go back and try to get the "avoid Tuesdays" prophecy myself... for science, of course. And yeah, the karaoke... I think I'll stick to humming along under my breath. My singing voice could probably shatter glass. Thanks for the heads-up!

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
