Gone. I filed a report, of course, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar there? I'd love to know if it was just me being unbelievably unlucky or if there's some sort of... luggage gremlin infestation? I had a killer pair of socks in there, you know... the ones with the llamas. Anyway, the city itself was amazing, especially the nightlife, but the whole luggage thing really put a damper on my trip.

Your best bet is to push the hotel's manager directly, not just the front desk staff. IP Boutique has a weird setup where guest services and housekeeping report to different supervisors, so your claim might be stuck in a handoff. I'd also check with the convenience store next door, GS25 on the corner of Euljiro, because guests sometimes leave bags there by accident when grabbing snacks and the staff holds them for a day or two. The llama socks sound like a real loss, those are hard to replace.

honestly the ip boutique gets a lot of business travelers and i think their luggage handling is kinda chaotic because of it. i know someone who works front desk at a hotel nearby and they said sometimes bags get mixed up with group tours check-ins, especially on busy weekends. might be worth calling back and asking if any groups checked in or out the same day you did, sometimes the bellmen just grab the wrong one. also the lost and found at ip boutique is apparently in a basement storage room near the staff lockers, not the main office, so if they tell you it's not there push them to check that room specifically. hope you find the llama socks, those sound iconic

kinda wild this keeps happening there tbh. i live in jongno and a friend of mine used to work at ip boutique and said the luggage room is basically a free-for-all after midnight when the night audit shift comes in. apparently they dump stuff in a corner near the laundry chute on b1 and forget to log it half the time. if you haven't already, ask them to check that laundry room area specifically, not just the official lost and found. also worth posting in the seoul lost and found facebook group, saw someone reunite with a backpack there last month from the same hotel

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
