But honestly, most places near Gyeongbokgung like Mirror Pond are used to tourists, so you can usually flag down a server and ask if they have an English menu stashed somewhere. The spicy dish you got was probably kimchi bokkeumbap with gochujang, that stuff is no joke. If you need relief, walk over to the Tosokchon Samgyetang alley just south of the palace, they sell cold sikhye that'll calm your stomach right down.
fwiw i just take a photo of the menu with my phone and use google lens offline these days, works well enough for the basics. but if you really want a dedicated app, mirinae is actually better than papago for breaking down korean sentence structure, helps you learn the patterns for next time. that face-melting dish was prob dweji bulgogi if it was spicy pork, they do it extra strong at mirror pond. for future reference theres a convenience store two blocks west that sells banana milk, that stuff cuts through spice better than water ever will
theres a few apps but honestly just screenshot the menu before you go and run it through google translate offline packs later. the naver ones fine but if youre near insadong theres a hanok place called minui sikdang that has english menus and their kimchi jjigae wont set your mouth on fire. also if you want to cool down grab some patbingsu from a cafe near anguk station, they got a good one at the alley behind the post office

Rain cuts hit hardest in July, so ask if 주휴수당 still applies on weeks you drop under 15 hours.
