Anyway, I've heard the base is HUGE. My friend keeps going on about the legendary PX and how it's like a mini-mall. Seriously, she's practically built a shrine to it. The problem is...navigating the place. Getting around a military base sounds like a nightmare. I'm gonna be lost for sure without a map or something. Anyone got tips on getting around Camp Coiner without ending up in some restricted area? Like, secret shortcuts? I don't want to be that tourist getting escorted out by MPs.

Yeah, Camp Coiner is a maze. Seriously. My cousin got lost there once trying to find the bowling alley, ended up near some kind of restricted training area. Not fun.

Best bet? Download the base map before you go. Most bases have them online. Failing that, just ask someone at the gate. They're usually pretty helpful, and if you look genuinely lost, they'll point you in the right direction. Don't wander off the marked paths though; that's a recipe for a chat with the MPs. And yeah, that PX is awesome. Prepare to spend money. Good luck!

Oh man, seriously? A restricted training area? That's terrifying. I knew it was big, but not that big. Downloading the map is a great idea, didn't even think of that. Thanks! And yeah, the PX... I've heard stories. My wallet is already trembling. I'll definitely stick to the marked paths, don't want to end up explaining myself to anyone in uniform. Appreciate the advice!

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
