It was like a spaceship cockpit, all chrome and buttons. I spent a good ten minutes just figuring out how to get a normal shower going. Seriously, there were options I didn't even understand. My question is: did anyone else ever get completely lost in this futuristic shower experience? It was half terrifying, half hilarious.

that sounds like the L'Escape or one of those new boutique spots near Hoehyeon, they all use that same japanese brand of shower system. my buddy got stuck in one for twenty minutes and ended up just using the bidet spray to rinse off. if u look at the side panel there's usually a tiny physical knob hidden behind a flap, that's the real master valve. also pro tip, the "steam" button makes the whole room feel like a sauna, don't touch it unless u want ur phone screen fogged up for an hour. honestly the older hotels up near Jongno have way simpler showers, just a normal lever and a rain head, and they're half the price too.

lol welcome to korean hotel bathrooms, they love their gadgets. my first time i hit what i thought was the light switch and it turned on the toilet seat warmer, which was a whole other surprise at 2am. if u're still in the area, the lobby staff at most of those big towers near Myeongdong are super used to this, they'll walk u through it if u ask. honestly after a few trips i just stick to the basic handheld spray and treat the rest like a spaceship i'm not qualified to fly. the heated mirror is the only button worth touching imo.

The trick is to ignore the digital panel entirely and look for the small lever underneath, that's the actual water flow. The buttons are mostly for the bidet-style functions and the steam mode, which I accidentally triggered once and genuinely thought I'd broken the room. If it's the place I'm thinking of near the Jung-gu side, the front desk gets this question so often they've printed a little guide in English, just ask for it. I've learned to treat those showers like a video game, press everything slowly and see what happens, but the heated floor button is the real hero of that bathroom.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
