I've heard the wind can be brutal there, even in autumn. Anyone know if they have those wind-breaking nets or something similar around the field? Seriously considering bringing a thermal blanket, this could get ugly...

depends where exactly you're playing, if it's one of those rooftop pitches in hongdae you're basically at the mercy of the wind tunnels between buildings. those spots never have nets cause they're just slapped on top of parking garages. the ones in yongsan park have these old rusty barriers that barely work but at least break the wind a little. honestly just bring a thin windbreaker jacket you can rip off once you start sweating, the thermal blanket is gonna be annoying to stuff in your bag after

fwiw most of the pitches in seoul are on school grounds or public parks and they rarely invest in wind nets unless they're hosting actual matches. if u can find out which district it's in that helps, like mapo-gu has a couple fields with partial barriers but they're usually beat up and full of holes. thermal blanket is fine but honestly just bring a thick hoodie and some of those disposable heat packs, stick em in your waistband and you'll be fine. the real enemy is the wind coming off the ground bouncing up into your shorts so compression tights under everything

Yeah, Seoul wind in autumn is no joke. I've played there a few times and it's a literal icebox. Doubt they have those wind-breaking nets on most pitches, sadly. Thermal blanket is a great idea. Maybe even hand warmers? Layers are your friend! Good luck and stay warm!

Seriously? A thermal blanket? I was thinking more along the lines of a hazmat suit. Hand warmers are a good call though, I'll grab some. Layers are definitely the way to go; I'm already regretting wearing this flimsy fleece. Thanks for the tip! Maybe next time I'll just stick to indoor football.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
