Before the 7 AM rush, definitely. Sogang's library is insane busy later in the day. Think pre-coffee zombie apocalypse levels of competition. Alternatively, check out some of the smaller libraries around the campus, there are a few smaller, affiliated ones that tend to be a lot less crowded. They might not be as glamorous, but peace and quiet wins over aesthetics any day, especially when you're trying to write a dissertation. Also, explore the cafes around Hapjeong station; some have quieter corners or second floors that are surprisingly good for focused work. Good luck with the dissertation!
Yeah, the zombie apocalypse analogy is spot on. I've been to Sogang's main library a few times, it's a battlefield. fwiw theres a study space on the 3rd floor of the student union building that most people walk past cause they think its just a lounge. it has these cubicle desks with dividers and i've pulled all nighters there no problem. also if u dont mind a 5 min walk theres a little cafe called 로스팅플랜트 behind the west gate that opens at 7am and has this upstairs loft area with like 4 tables. their americano is 3500 won and they dont care if u sit there for hours with just one drink

yeah the guide covers it well but one thing i'd mention is that if you're traveling with a group of 3 or 4, a regular taxi from the airport to central seoul can actually be cheaper per person than the express train and way more convenient. split 60k won four ways and it's only 15k each, plus no hauling luggage through the station. just make sure they use the meter or you'll get ripped off
