Best Western Premier Kukdo Hotel Experiences?

I'm talking can't-sleep-unless-it's-completely-silent terrible. So my question is: How soundproof are the rooms, specifically those facing the street? I'm planning another trip soon and really want to know if I need earplugs or if I can actually get some decent rest. This time, I'm thinking of splurging on a higher floor... maybe that'll help...

ngl the back side rooms are your best bet but even then the hotel's hvac system makes this weird humming noise that bothered me more than street traffic. i stayed on the 9th floor facing jungnim-dong and thought i was safe until the ac kicked on around midnight. if you're that sensitive to noise maybe ask front desk if they can turn off the fan unit in your room before you check in, some of them have a master switch. also the mini fridge in those rooms is louder than you'd expect, i unplugged mine on the second night

I've stayed there three times now and I actually think the hallway noise is worse than the street. People coming back late from Hongdae or Itaewon, doors slamming, that sort of thing. The carpeted corridors don't help much because sound travels right under the door gap. I'd bring earplugs regardless of which side you're on, but if you can get an end-of-hallway room near the stairwell, there's less foot traffic past your door. The minibar fridge is also surprisingly loud, I just unplug mine as soon as I check in.

honestly the back side rooms are the move here, the euljiro buses rumble through all night and it's not just traffic noise it's that low frequency vibration that cuts through walls. i've stayed on the 14th floor street side and still heard the bus brakes clearly at 2am. if u can snag a room facing jungnim-dong it's a totally different vibe, almost residential quiet. but if you're stuck street side, the hotel's windows are actually decent double glazing, just not enough for a light sleeper

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
