Lost Luggage?

But... my suitcase vanished. Poof! Gone. I'm pretty sure I left it in the room, but the staff are saying they haven't seen it. Anyone ever had a similar experience at a hotel in that area? Should I just file a police report...? It had all my stuff...

The bell desk at most Myeongdong hotels is where bags actually disappear, not the room. When you check out they often tag your luggage and move it to a holding area near the lobby, and if the tag falls off or gets mixed with another guest's stuff it just sits there. Go back in person and ask to physically look at the storage room yourself, don't let them just "check." Also, if you're still in Seoul, the Yongsan Police Station handles a lot of the Myeongdong district and they have a foreign affairs desk that's more useful than a regular report. Bring your passport and the hotel receipt.

if u were still checked in when it went missing, that's on the hotel's watch under korean civil law, not yours to prove. ask them to review footage within 14 days because most cctv in myeongdong hotels auto overwrites after about two weeks, so the clock is ticking. put your request in writing, email the front desk and cc the manager, so you have a paper trail if u end up filing with the 소액사건 court later

check the room safe and the closet shelf above the hangers. sounds dumb but hotels in Myeongdong have those high shelves that staff miss during turnover and guests never look up there. also call the hotel's lost and found directly instead of the front desk, theyre different departments and front desk usually just says "nothing here" without actually checking. if you already left the city, ask them to mail it to your next stop, most will do it if you cover the shipping.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
