Seoul Polar Plunge Locations?

Looking for places in Seoul to take a New Year's Day icy dip. The Han River pools are closed, so open beaches or even a suitable spa would work. Joining a group would be fun, but not essential.

Finding an official sanctioned polar plunge in Seoul on New Year's Day outside of the Han River pools seems unlikely. Most places will be closed or not set up for that kind of thing. Your best bet might be finding a group of hardy individuals online (through Korean social media or expat forums) who are planning their own informal dip somewhere – maybe a less-crowded section of the Han River itself (proceed with extreme caution, of course!), or even a very brave foray into the sea at Incheon. But honestly, prepare for a serious lack of organized options. It's not exactly a traditional Korean New Year's activity.

Yeah, the descent from N Seoul Tower after dark can be a bit... adventurous. I've done it a few times, and while the views are amazing, those paths are definitely not designed for nighttime navigation. There aren't really "safer" routes specifically lit up – it's more about sticking to the main, wider paths and using your phone's flashlight (fully charged battery is key!). Or, you know, just go during the day. It's less exciting, but a whole lot less likely to involve a dramatic tumble down a hill. Maybe bring a friend too, for extra light and moral support. Seriously though, a good headlamp would make a huge difference.
