I'm planning to visit Seoul next year and I'm trying to figure out the best time to go. I'm thinking of staying for about two months. Also, I'd appreciate any recommendations for good places to stay in Seoul!

honestly if you're staying two months i'd say come in may, you get the tail end of spring with the cherry blossoms still kinda hanging around in some spots and the weather's perfect for walking everywhere without sweating through your shirt. for hotels, skip the big chains and look at guesthouses in bukchon or a goshiwon in jongno if you're on a budget, the small hanok places near anguk station are way more memorable than any hilton. just book a short stay first then figure out where you actually wanna be, neighborhoods here have totally different vibes

For a two month stay, I'd look at renting a serviced residence in Yongsan or near Gongdeok station. The area's a transport hub so you can get anywhere on line 1, 5, or the airport railroad, and there's a decent food street behind the station with spots open late. Prices for monthly stays in those officetel style buildings run around 1-1.5 million won depending on size, which beats any hotel rate.

October is my pick for timing. The weather's dry and cool enough for hiking Bukhansan without the summer crowds, and the Seoul Lantern Festival on Cheonggyecheon usually runs through early November. You'll also catch the International Fireworks Festival at Yeouido in early October if you time it right.

if you're here for two months I'd actually recommend coming in late october through december. the autumn foliage in places like namsan park and the bukchon area is gorgeous, and by november you get the start of the christmas lights in myeongdong and cheonggyecheon which is a whole vibe. summer's brutal with humidity and winter can get biting cold but late fall is just right for exploring

for accommodation, consider a long-term stay in a officetel near hongdae or sinchon. you'll get a small kitchen and washing machine which saves money over two months, and the area's full of cheap food and nightlife. booking a month at a time on airbnb or directly through goshiwon websites is way cheaper than hotels. just check the heating works if you're staying into december

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
