First I'd like to mention this is a bit random and i hope it's allowed. I'm in Seoul for the upcoming week (been here since Thursday) with my gf and we're absolutely loving it.

I'm looking for 2 things: 1. Does anyone know of any jazz/blues jam sessions i can check out as a guitar player? 2. Any pool players that would like to shoot some 9balls with me?

I would post these questions on dedicated FB groups (in fact, i did) but unfortunately my FB profile is blocked from posting in groups, my posts just get marked as spam and are rejected, immediately, and there seems to be nothing to do about this.

Sorry again if this is against not allowed and

all jazz jams in hongdae are worth checking but evans can be hit or miss on weeknights. the real spot for guitar players is studio woomi in mangwon, they do a monday night blues jam that's super chill and the house amp is a vintage fender twin. for pool, skip itaewon and hit up pocket 9 in sinchon near the main gate of yonsei - it's 8,000 won an hour and the regulars are friendly enough to let u jump in on a game of 9ball if u buy a round of soju

Seoul's got a vibrant music scene, so you'll find plenty of musicians. As for pool... I'd guess there are places, but maybe not as densely packed as the music venues. Depends what kind of pool you mean, too. Eight-ball, snooker, something more... artistic?

For jazz jams, check out Club Evans in Hongdae, they usually have sessions on weekends and are pretty welcoming to guitar players sitting in. For pool, there's a solid place called Billiard Room in Itaewon near the main drag, just walk in and ask around, people are usually down for a game.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
