My girlfriends birthday is soon and she's a huge fan of F1 (Specifically Mclaren). Where in Seoul could i get some Merchandise for F1 or Mclaren? I'm struggling to find a store! Thanks!

if she's into mclaren specifically, check out the puma store in coex mall. they had some mclaren f1 collab gear last time i was there, like team jackets and caps. not a huge selection but better than nothing

otherwise, coupang is your friend. you can get official mclaren merch delivered in a day or two, just search "맥라렌 F1" and filter by official store. way easier than hunting around stores

honestly, official f1 merch is tough to find in seoul. your best bet is probably the nike flagship in myeongdong or the adidas store in hongdae, they sometimes carry mclaren collab stuff but it's hit or miss. if that fails, try the underground shopping arcade at gangnam station, there's a couple of kiosks that sell unofficial f1 caps and tees for like 15,000 won. not authentic but she might still dig the gesture

try the f1 pop-up store in gangnam, it moves around but check their instagram for locations. mclaren stuff is rare in person tho

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
