Anyone know where to buy pillows in Seoul?

Hoping to buy a memory foam style travel pillow in Seoul. Hoping to buy a memory foam style travel pillow in Seoul.

honestly just hit up Daiso in Myeongdong or Hongdae, theyve got those memory foam travel pillows for like 8,000 won. theres also a bigger selection at Emart or Lotte Mart if you want to try before buying, the one near Seoul Station has a whole travel section. fwiw i tried a few and the wrap-around neck ones at Daiso are decent for the price, just dont expect premium quality

if you're near itaewon, check out the homeplus in hannam-dong. they've got a small travel section with memory foam pillows, some are the inflatable kind with foam filling which i actually prefer for packing. also the artbox in gangnam has some cute character ones that are surprisingly comfortable, around 12,000 won and they hold up better than you'd think

hit up the underground shopping arcade at Gangnam station, theres a little shop called Banolim that specializes in neck pillows and travel accessories. theyve got proper memory foam ones with removable covers for like 15,000 won, way better than the Daiso ones tbh. the owner is this older lady who actually lets you test them out on a chair before buying

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
