Where can I go on Saturday to avoid crowd?

So,… Me and my husband arrived yesterday (Friday) in Seoul, and for our first night we went to Myeongdong, it was toooo much, too many people, we couldn't stay!! We went to Euljiro and it was awesome. So, my Myeongdong experience got me worried about today (Saturday) because it's an official weekend. I was thinking of going to Bukchon Hanok village but now i don't know, maybe i should postpone it to a regular week day to avoid the crowds and to be able to try the cafes there without long queues.. Hongdae also seems very busy today.. please tell me where should I go to avoid too many people? And What do you think of Hannam dong and The Hyundai Mall for Saturday?

P.s. please don't recommend a place in Gangnam because I'm going to a hotel there after 4 days

hannam dong is a solid saturday move honestly, way chiller than myeongdong or hongdae. the itaewon side streets around gyeongnidan have that same euljiro vibe but with more trees, and the cafes there are big enough that you won't be fighting for a seat. the hyundai mall seoul in yeouido gets packed after lunch though, especially the food court, so if you go, hit it right at 10:30 opening or skip it entirely and walk along the han river park instead.

bukchon on a saturday is a no from me, the main alley turns into a single-file shuffle with tour groups. save it for a tuesday morning, the hanok roofs look better in weekday light anyway. for today, also consider seongsu dong, it's got that industrial cafe thing but spread out, and the crowds are more local and mellow. take the subway to seongsu station, exit 2, and just wander the side streets, you'll find empty galleries and bakeries without any lines.

yeouido is actually my pick for saturday, but skip the mall. the han river park there has a huge stretch of grass and bike paths, locals picnic all day, it never feels cramped even when it's busy. grab some gimbap and makgeolli from a convenience store and sit by the water, way better than fighting for a cafe table.

if you're set on hannam dong, go before noon. the usadan-gil area has that same euljiro warehouse feel but quieter, and the little alleys behind the main street have small galleries that barely get foot traffic. just avoid the itaewon end after 2pm, that's when the brunch crowd spills over.

for tomorrow, seongbuk-dong is a hidden gem. it's north of bukchon but way less touristy, old hanok houses on hills, a few tea houses that have been there for decades. take bus 1111 from hongik university station, it drops you right at the start of the walking trail. no queues, just old ladies watering their plants and cats on the walls.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
