Hey guys, does anyone know a barber in Seoul (Hongdae area but I don't mind a metro journey) who can cut beards?

The barbers I have had my haircut at so far won't touch my beard, which I totally understand as they're not very common here!

I'm a student, so a budget-friendly place would be ideal. I'm not fussed about them being able to speak English or being a "western" barber.

Thanks!!

tbh you could also try the barber inside the hongdae station exit 3 underground mall, it's like a five minute walk from the cgv but going the other direction toward the station. they do beard trims for 8,000 won and the guy's been there for years, real old-school setup with the straight razor and everything. just go down the stairs past the kimbap place and it's near the shoe repair shop on the right

if you're willing to go a bit further, there's a place in yeonnam-dong called gwanghwamun barber, it's near the gyeongui line forest park. it's like 12,000 won for a beard and they're pretty quick, the owner speaks a little english from dealing with the cafe crowd around there. just take the walkway from hongdae station toward yeonnam and it's in the basement of a white building with a faded blue sign

for a student budget i'd actually recommend checking out the barber inside the hongdae gogos shopping mall basement floor. it's near the exit toward the playground area, 10,000 won for a beard trim and they do it right with a straight razor. the guy there is older, doesn't speak much english but he gets the job done fast

another option that nobody mentioned is the barber at hongdae station exit 4, the one inside the underground shopping arcade. it's like 8,000 won and they'll clean up a beard no problem. just walk past the cell phone repair shops and it's on the left, tiny place with a red sign

honestly just go to Itaewon for this, it's your best bet as a student. there's a place called Barber Road near the Hamilton Hotel, they do beard trims for like 15,000 won which is pretty standard. it's a short metro ride from Hongdae on line 6, maybe 20 mins

ngl a lot of the shops near Hongdae station that do hair won't touch beards cause they're mostly hair salons not actual barbershops. Barber Road guys are Korean but they're used to foreigners and beard work, just show them a pic on your phone if you're unsure about the style

if u want even cheaper there's a tiny spot in Sinchon called Lee's Barber, it's like 10,000 won for a beard trim but the guy barely speaks english so u gotta be patient. it's behind the Hyundai Department store there, easy walk from Hongdae

Adventure Park jobs in Seoul 2026: what do they pay?

What does an hourly wage there actually come to after tax, and can anyone realistically cover rent and living costs in Seoul on it? I'd like to hear from people who've done a season rather than the job posting figures.

The 4대보험 hit is real but the bigger issue is hours getting cut in the rainy stretch of 장마, so your monthly total swings a lot. I'd ask current staff about the actual shift schedule before signing, not the posted rate.

Image birga local ·

장마 shifts get cut first, ask about 우천 대체 근무

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image sybilla local ·

for real, and the rainy day shifts they swap you into are usually shorter, so ask how many actual hours a week you'd get

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image babette local ·

also worth knowing that shift cuts depend on which attraction you're assigned to. indoor rides keep running through the wet weeks so those crews stay close to full hours while outdoor ones get sent home early. ask which ride you'd be on before you sign anything.

Rain cuts hit hardest in July, so ask if 주휴수당 still applies on weeks you drop under 15 hours.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image petra local ·

One thing worth asking is whether 주휴수당 gets prorated or clawed back at settlement, since some seasonal contracts quietly build that into the base rate.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image petra local ·

Check the contract's 근로계약서 hours, that's the real tell.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image jana local ·

agreed, ask for the actual shift roster in writing

Adventure Park runs on short seasonal contracts, so expect around minimum wage (10,320 won in 2025, maybe 10,500 in 2026) minus 4대보험, which drops your take-home more than people think. On that, a deposit-heavy Seoul rent is a stretch unless you share a place or live out near the park.

yeah but short contracts mean no severance either
