The Apple support in Shinjuku Told me it might be a Hardware issue since its not booting up. They Told me to send it in when I am back home in Germany. The Bad thing is, I need my Laptop for my photography and I still have 2 days left in Tokyo as well as 8 in Seoul before getting back home. Any hints for a good repair Shop? Because I really don't think its that bad of an issue as they want to tell me. I hope I might can get it fixed once I am in Seoul since I am Running out of any Flash drives thx!!

You should try the Apple store in Myeongdong first - they have English-speaking staff and a Genius Bar that actually diagnoses on the spot. If they quote you something insane, walk two blocks to Yongsan Electronics Market. There's a basement floor full of repair stalls where they'll replace a logic board or SSD for half the price, just make sure you stay and watch them work. The market guys are honest with simple hardware issues but will upsell you if you leave your laptop unattended.

tbh if you're near hongdae there's a spot called Goto Mall in the basement of SangSangMadang - they have a whole row of independent repair guys who see dead macbooks all the time from tourists. i'd bring your own external drive though, some of em will try to charge you extra for data recovery if they think your storage is failing. just ask for "macbook repair" in the basement level, walk past the phone case stalls and you'll see the guys with soldering irons out in the open.

the yongsan market suggestion is solid too but it's a maze and you'll waste time finding the right stall. goto mall is more compact and they speak basic english since they deal with tons of travelers. expect to pay around 150-200k won for a logic board fix, cash only most places.

Since you are coming from Tokyo with a non-booting MacBook, the first thing to do is back up your data yourself if the drive is still readable. Grab a USB-C enclosure from the Yongsan Electronics Market for about 15,000 won and pull the SSD out of your MacBook, then plug it into another computer to copy your files. That way you are not at the mercy of any repair shop's data recovery pricing.

For the actual repair, skip the big Apple Store in Myeongdong because they will just quote you a flat rate board swap and send it out. Walk into the Yongsan Market but head straight to the second floor where the "Mac City" stalls are clustered, not the basement. The guys up there have bench microscopes and will actually reflow a loose chip or replace a single capacitor for around 80,000 to 100,000 won, which is probably what is wrong if it died suddenly without a drop or spill. They see this exact "no boot, no chime" issue on MacBook Pros all the time from humidity changes between countries.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
