It'll only be for 10days. Because, it's my first time ever leaving the country (USA), I figured I'd at least ask the internet for any tips or advice for my being there. But the .gov sites I'm reading say that no K-ETA is needed until December 2024. So I'm not sure if I'm supposed to apply for a visa

Also, Any advice is welcomed

You don't need a visa for a 10-day trip as a US citizen, and the K-ETA is still suspended so no worries there. One thing nobody mentioned is that late January is peak winter here, so pack a good coat and layers because it gets below freezing, especially at night. For a first trip, I'd skip Myeongdong for street food and head to Gwangjang Market instead, the bindae-tteok (mung bean pancakes) there are way better and it feels less touristy. Also grab a Wowpass card at the airport instead of a T-money card, it works for transit and lets you withdraw cash without foreign transaction fees at the machines.

nah you're fine, no visa needed for US citizens under 90 days. just bring a reusable mask if you want, some people still wear em on the subway. also bring a T-money card for the metro, way easier than buying single tickets each time. and try the street food at Myeongdong, tteokbokki is solid.

nope you dont need a visa for just 10 days as a US citizen. the K-ETA thing was suspended for now so youre good. for tips just download naver maps and papago before u go cause google maps barely works there

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
