Is there anything low energy I can do that's pretty safe as a woman traveling? I've got Namsan tower and Coex Aquarium, dog cafe on my list but nothing else. Would love to see more nature or some kind of tour but something that doesn't require intense workout

Since you're healing, I'd actually steer you toward the Seoul Museum of Art near Gyeonghuigung. It's small, quiet, and the current exhibitions are mostly video installations, so you can just sit on the benches and zone out. The adjacent palace grounds are flat and rarely crowded, plus there's a decent cafe inside where you can rest without moving much.

For a slower day, take the subway to Anguk and wander the back streets toward Samcheong-dong, but skip the main tourist drag. The side alleys have tiny ceramic and paper shops where owners are happy to chat if you're interested, and most have stools out front. Just avoid the weekend rush, it gets packed with strollers and groups.

if you're up for a slow museum crawl, the leeum samsung museum is a good one. it's small enough to not overwhelm but has really beautiful art and the building itself is worth seeing, plus it's mostly indoor and air conditioned. the walk from itaewon station is a bit uphill but you can take a taxi right to the door and it's not a big deal.

for something outdoors but totally flat, the seoul grand park in gwacheon is underrated. the main path from the station to the zoo area is wide and paved, and you can just sit by the lake with a book. the cable car up to the mountain is there too if you feel like it, but honestly just the lower gardens are enough for a lazy afternoon.

also, the national hangeul museum near yongsan is dead quiet and has these interactive exhibits where you can try writing your name in korean. it's free, no crowds, and the seating areas are super comfortable. pair it with a walk along the nearby yongsan family park, which is mostly shaded and flat

Seoul Forest is a solid pick, way less touristy than Namsan and the walking paths are flat so no strain. Grab a coffee from one of the cafes near Ttukseom station and just wander, the deer pen and the little stream are chill spots. For a tour, the DMZ half day trips are mostly bus riding with short walks, but check the company reviews first since some push a lot of stairs at the observatory.

Also, the National Museum of Korea is free and air conditioned, the permanent exhibits are nicely spaced out with benches everywhere. If you want nature without hills, the Seoul Botanic Park in Magok has a huge glasshouse you can stroll through, and the grounds are dead flat. Just bring a mask, the pollen can be rough this time of year, and avoid the weekend crowds at the forest.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
