I'm looking for a gym with membership where I can come and go as I please. Preferably as close to my home as possible, so between Hapjeong and Sangsu station.

Anyone know of any? I'm currently learning korean but still very new to it so I'm not very good at finding options on Naver maps.

if u're between the two stations, try 짐박스 (gym box) near sangsu station exit 1, it's in the basement of that building with the gs25. no pt nonsense, just a key fob and u swipe in whenever. runs about 45k a month last i saw, and it's open 24h. the crowd is mostly young people who actually train so it's not awkward

there's a 24시 피트니스 (24hr fitness) right next to sangsu station exit 3, upstairs in that big building with the olive young. they do regular memberships without forcing pt on you, about 50-60k a month last i checked. if u want something even closer to hapjeong, try 스포짐 (spojim) near hapjeong station exit 4, it's a bit smaller but solid and quieter crowd

honestly just walk into any of those smaller buildings between the stations and look for a 헬스장 sign, half of them are independent gyms that don't advertise online. there's one on the 2nd floor of that building with the Paris Baguette near Sangsu station exit 2, it's maybe 40k a month and nobody bothers you. the machines are a bit older but it's never crowded, mostly local ajummas and a few office workers

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
