Anyone has any advice or knows any academy around here?

eungam is actually not bad for hagwons, the area around yeonsinnae station (line 3 & 6) has a bunch. it's one stop over or a short bus ride from eungam. look for 한국어학원 signs on the streets behind yeonsinnae exit 3, i think there are a couple that do evening classes for adults. tbh most of the big chain ones like ybm are in jongno or gangnam so if u want something closer yeonsinnae or even bulgwang is ur best bet

If you're open to a short subway ride, Bulgwang station has a few options worth checking. There's a 한국어학원 on the second floor of the building right by exit 2, forget the exact name but it's above a convenience store. They do small group classes, like 4-6 people max, which is way better than the 15-person rooms at the big chains.

Also fwiw Eungam has a lot of 아파트 단지 nearby, and some of them run Korean classes for foreign residents in the 주민센터 inside the complex. Not advertised online usually, you just have to ask at the front desk. My neighbor's wife found one that way, think it was like 50k a month for twice a week.

The Eungam area itself has a few smaller spots tucked into the commercial buildings near the station exits, but they tend to be geared toward test prep rather than Korean language. What worked for me was the YMCA in Seodaemun-gu, about 15 minutes by bus 7017 or 7018 from Eungam Station. They run proper Korean classes for foreigners with a fixed curriculum, and the teachers actually have training in teaching Korean as a second language, which isn't always the case at random neighborhood hagwons. Fees were around 150,000 won per month for twice a week when I checked last year.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
