I defintitely mean other than big market toy stores like Toys R Us and Toy Kingdom, where the selection is limited and unchanging. It's okay if the games are Korean but English would be a bonus.

If any known cafes sell a portion of their goods, I might consider that. I want to browse good collections with family, but actually take home what we like.

dice latte is good but if you want pure retail check out board game mafia in gangnam station area. it's a store not a cafe so you can actually take your time browsing without feeling like you need to order something. they stock a lot of korean editions of popular games plus some english imports near the back

also worth hitting up the board game section at kyobo bookstores in gangnam or gwanghwamun, way better selection than toy stores and they usually have a few shelves of english language games mixed in with the korean ones

There's a spot in Sinchon called Rolling Dice that's worth checking out, right near the main street by the Hyundai Department store. They've got a decent mix of Korean and imported games, and the owner actually plays stuff so they can give recs if you're stuck.

For a bigger haul, the big emart in Jamsil has a surprisingly good game section hidden near the electronics, not with the toys. They stock some English editions of gateway games like Catan and Ticket to Ride, plus a lot of Korean versions you won't see in the usual toy aisles.

If you're near Yongsan, the I'Park Mall has a hobby shop on the 4th floor that carries some board games alongside their miniatures and card stuff. It's not huge but they get in some niche Korean indie titles that are hard to find elsewhere.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
