We will travelling as 3 women alone and was wondering how safe it is for us or if it would be better for us to book closer to the centre instead of risking our safety for a cheaper price. Thank you in advance for your replies 🙏 edit: Sungin* not sugin. apologies for the misspelling.

sungin-dong is totally fine safety-wise, it's a pretty standard residential area in jongno-gu. i've walked around there late at night plenty of times and never felt sketched out, just quiet. the main thing is it's a bit of a walk from the big tourist hubs like insadong or myeongdong, maybe 15-20 min by bus or subway. if you don't mind that, it's a solid cheaper option, just know you'll be relying on the 1 or 6号线 a bit more

yeah it's safe, no worries there. seoul in general is super safe for women traveling alone. just be aware that sungin-dong is more of a quiet residential area so the streets can feel empty at night, but it's not dangerous. if you want more nightlife or restaurant options nearby, maybe look closer to jongno or hongdae, but if you're fine taking the subway or a short taxi ride then it's a fine spot for the price

it's safe, no worries there. honestly the bigger thing is that sungin-dong is kind of a pain to get to from the main tourist spots, especially if you're relying on the bus. the 1号线 is fine but the station exit puts you on a pretty quiet street that feels darker than it actually is. if you're booking for the price, just budget a little extra for taxis back at night and you'll be set

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
