Going to Korea in the end of the year - How would K-ETA work?

I saw something about the K-ETA being exempt until the end of this year for countries including Germany. I'm not quite sure what this means. So will I have to apply for it since I'm overstaying the time frame of the exemption? The website isn't written very well so I'm a bit confused and any help would be very appreciated :)

honestly just apply for it anyway even if ur exempt. it's like 10 bucks and takes 5 min, saves u the stress at the gate if the airline agent is clueless. the official site works fine on desktop, the mobile version is where it glitches out.

for new years, if u want the real local vibe, skip the rivers and head to a jjimjilbang near ur hotel after midnight. they're open 24/7, warm, and u can sleep off the soju before the morning crowds hit gyeongbokgung. also download naver map now, google maps is useless for walking directions in seoul, u'll thank me later.

The exemption is based on your arrival date, not your departure, so if you land before midnight on December 31st you're fine. I'd still print out the official notice from the K-ETA site just in case the airline staff at check-in in Frankfurt ask questions, they sometimes don't know the latest rules.

For New Year's, skip the Myeongdong chaos and head to Bosingak in Jongno for the bell ceremony, it's more traditional and less touristy. Also, the subway runs all night on New Year's Eve so you won't be stuck, but grab a T-money card at any convenience store before you go out. The cold is brutal around then, so bring a proper winter coat and thermal layers, Koreans dress like they're going skiing.

tbh u should be fine since the exemption is based on when u enter, not leave. but if ur flight lands after jan 1st then yeah u gotta apply. just do it like 3 weeks before to be safe, the site crashes sometimes around holidays.

also ngl, the k-eta is pretty quick if u do need it, I've heard ppl get approved in like a day. but double check ur passport info, a typo there will screw u over. and if ur staying near hongdae, new years eve is chaos but fun, just dont expect

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
